A new beginning...

OMG! Time is flying very fast... I cannot believe this is the last period...
I feel very relaxed this time, there isn't nervousness anymore!!!

I decided to begin this new challenge as soon as possible so I could finish earlier and feel free from all this teaching matter... That's why I began my third teaching mission today...

I arrived early to the classroom; however, there was another class before mine so I knew I had to fly if I wanted everything to be ready for my class. Thanks God my tutor arrived a little bit late so I had some minutes more to change the position of the desks and to paste all the material I needed for the warm up.
I had to explain the grammar part ("there is" and "there are") which is what I like the most since you can look for different activities that allow you to teach it in a funny or interesting way without following a lesson as in the case of the practice part in which you have nothing to do but just to give the instructions to the students and check their work. I preferred to share my knowledge.
In the warm up students had to order and paste some sentences on the board (I had already used this activity in my first teaching period). I like this activity because you make your students to work in groups as they order the sentences which later, you will use to explain the grammar part. Also because in that way you avoid making charts with the grammar structures or even writing too much in the board. You just have to move the pieces of paper to form more sentences as you explain the different structures.
My feedback was nice I just had some pronunciation mistakes, but the rest was OK. The teacher liked my job.
By the way, in this opportunity I am teaching in the Intensive Basic English which is in charge of teacher Ercilia so maybe I feel relaxed because I already know her. I really like my new students; they are very energetic and participative.
I hope to learn a lot of things from this new experience...

  1. That's what we as practitioners need, Motivation. I think that a positive attitude will help us a lot in our classes. Let's remember that our mood may affect our class; that's why we need to transmit positive energy to them.

  2. Hey Cris! Take advantage of these guys, i worked with them and they are really hyperactive and they like to participate a lot. Well, there are some girls that don´t like too much to participate but because they are shy so you have to make them join the class.

I like that topic, too. There are many activities for it. Nice job chiken!
